Objective:

The Minor Foundation for Major Challenges (MFMC) is a Norwegian philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting innovative communication projects that promote the transition to a low-carbon economy and mitigate climate change. The foundation focuses on funding projects that use new or unexpected ways to communicate the urgency and necessity of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, especially those that inspire systemic change and reach audiences not typically engaged by mainstream campaigns.

This specific call supports bold and creative communication initiatives that aim to influence institutions, reduce fossil fuel use, increase adoption of carbon-free solutions, and drive public mobilisation for climate action. Projects should align with the 1.5°C pathway and contribute to structural change rather than individual behavior only.

Eligibility criteria:

• Only organisations may apply (not individuals)
• Projects must align clearly with MFMC’s strategy
• Only European-based organisations are eligible (with rare exceptions)
• The foundation does not fund commercial ventures, local-only or research-based initiatives, or general climate awareness campaigns
• Projects focused solely on individual behavior change are ineligible unless embedded in a wider political or systemic strategy
• A short project description must be submitted to request a user profile before accessing the application portal

Eligible countries:

Primarily European countries (only exceptional non-European projects may be considered)

Usually up to one year

Up to EUR 10,000
