ERIM (formerly known as IREX Europe) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Lyon, France. For more than 20 years ERIM has worked to promote human rights and strengthen independent media and civil society. The ERIM approach emphasises partnerships with local development organisations to bring about change through training, partnerships, education, research and subgranting schemes.
ERIM is looking for a Lyon-based Head of Region to lead our Eurasia team of 11 project managers. The Head of Region is part of the overall ERIM coordination team and reports directly to the Director. The Head of Region will have a strong understanding of the civil society and media context and across Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Eurasia and the donor landscape supporting work in this region. They will be at ease working in a multicultural setting and enjoy the challenges and advantages that come with working for a small-medium sized organisation.
Responsibilities and job criteria:
- Team supervision: Manage the Eurasia team (direct line management of 8-12 people) and provide support in the implementation of projects (sharing best practices and providing advice and support to resolve problems)
- Project supervision: track project implementation for the team including quarterly reviews, checking and signing contracts etc
- Coordination and implementation of ERIM strategy: Working in collaboration with the Director and Head of Operations, ensuring the Eurasia team works towards the overall ERIM strategy.
- Donor and stakeholder management: ensure strong coordination between different stakeholders involved in the projects, including partners, beneficiaries, and donors. Represent ERIM at external meetings and coordinate with donors
- Project development: identify new partnerships for the Eurasia region. Develop funding applications along with the Director and Head of Operations.

Expériences / Formation
Person specification
Essential criteria:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field of study (political science, human rights, media, journalism, etc.) and/or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- At least eight years’ experience in international project management, including sub-granting aspects, in the fields of civil society development, human rights promotion and/or media development.
- Experience managing a team.
- Experience managing donor funded projects.
- Knowledge of and experience with the civil society and media landscape in Eastern partnership, Central Asia and Eurasian countries.
- Strong experience and proven skills in budget and financial monitoring of donor funded projects, including co-funding.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Pro-active, solutions focused, and able to work independently.
- Organised and able to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Based or willingness to be based in Lyon. It is a requirement of the job to be based in Lyon.
- The right to live and work in France is mandatory.
The following criteria will be considered as an advantage:
- A network of contacts and experience of managing projects funded by key donors and foundations (EU, AfD, OAK Foundation etc).
- Knowledge of Russian and other languages or Eastern European and Central Asian countries would be an asset.

Conditions:
- Open-ended contract at full time (37 hours per week) starting as soon as possible.
- Salary according to the ERIM salary scale: 4,511 euros brut.
- Job based in Lyon, France, with occasional international travel.
