About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the Paraguay programme:

Since early 2024, MAG has been active in Paraguay through a programme established in partnership with a local organisation. Building on several years of work across Latin America, in Paraguay MAG has provided training, technical assistance, and equipment to support the safe destruction of seized firearms and to strengthen the management of weapons and ammunition stockpiles. These efforts aim to reduce armed violence and organised crime, challenges often fuelled by the diversion and proliferation of illicit weapons, by preventing their return to circulation and helping to keep communities safe.

This position plays a crucial role in improving safety, security, and operational effectiveness in WAM across MAG’s global operations.

About you:

The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in mine clearance, EOD and SALW/PSSM operations in conflict-affected developing countries, with proven ability to manage field operations independently in stand‑alone environments.
