Working context 

Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, around 17 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance and protection throughout Ukraine. WeWorld works alongside those who, despite the conflict, have decided to stay, those who have returned after having abandoned their homes under the attacks, displaced from the eastern part of the country and refugees in Moldova.

The main sectors of intervention are WASH, Shelter/NFI, Child Protection, and sectorial CASH assistance (Cash for Shelter, CASH for Health and CASH for Protection) for conflict affected population in newly liberated areas; psycho-social support activities are carried out mainly to women and children through mobile units and setting up child friendly spaces; distribution of non-food items has been provided  for the most vulnerable population in the rural areas in the east and south of the country. Moreover, WeWorld is supporting rural communities through the rehabilitation of Health and WASH facilities.

Currently the humanitarian operations of WeWorld are conducted in the Oblasts of Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Kyiv. The country office is set down in Kyiv and field offices in Kharkiv, and antennas in Mykolaiv, Kherson and Donestk.

 

Job description 

The Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion Officer will be responsible for designing, adapting, and implementing peace education and social cohesion components across WeWorld’s programs in Ukraine. This includes capacity building for WeWorld staff and partners on the WeWorld Conflict Sensitivity Toolkit, integrating peacebuilding methodologies in Child Protection and Education interventions, and contributing to new project proposals. It is required to work in close cooperation with the Head of Programme and the Country Representative.

 

He/she will have the following tasks:

Main tasks and ResponsIbilities

Programme development and implementation

  • Lead the adaptation and contextualization of the WeWorld Conflict Sensitive Programming Toolkit to the Ukrainian context, including development of tools, guidelines, SoPs, etc. whenever required
  • Design and deliver training sessions for WeWorld staff and implementing partners on peacebuilding, conflict sensitivity, and social cohesion
  • Develop and implement peace education and civic education activities, particularly within Child Protection and Education programs
  • Promote intergenerational dialogue and community-based social cohesion activities in areas affected by war and displacement
  • Ensure that peacebuilding components are gender-sensitive, inclusive, and trauma-informed

 

Coordination and Representation

  • Work closely with programme team to ensure integration of peacebuilding into program design
  • Participate in relevant working groups and clusters, representing WeWorld on peacebuilding and social cohesion issues
  • Establish and maintain relations with local institutions, civil society actors, and veteran/family associations for joint activities

 

Proposal Development and Resource Mobilization

  • Strongly contribute or if requested by the Head of Program, lead the writing process for new project proposals in link with peace building/social cohesion, including provision of technical inputs, design and roll out of needs assessments, activities description logical framework, draft of budget, etc
  • Identify opportunities for new partnerships and program scaling in social cohesion and peacebuilding

 

Monitoring and Learning

  • Develop and adapt monitoring tools for peace education and cohesion initiatives
  • Collect feedback from participants and stakeholders to improve methodologies and document best practices
  • Produce narrative reports, case studies, and success stories in coordination with the MEAL team

 

Any other task requested by the Head of Program and Country Representative, for an efficient and quality implementation of WeWorld strategy and projects in Ukraine, according to the needs of the mission.

Expériences / Formation

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations, Education, Psychology, or related field
  • Good knowledge of main donors’ administrative rules and procurement procedures (ECHO, UE, UN, AICS)
  • Knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Full professional competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and Outlook

 

Professional experience

  • A minimum of 1 or 2 years of previous professional experience in similar roles / thematics

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous professional experience in Ukraine or similar context
  • Knowledge of written and spoken Italian

Salaire

WHAT WE OFFER

Type of contract: a first 3 (three) month collaboration contract subject to verification of the achievement of specific objectives (these objectives will be agreed together with the Head of Program upon arrival on assignment); a second collaboration contract of 3 (three) months renewable, following the positive evaluation of the first three months of contract

Economic conditions to be defined according to WeWorld Expatriates Compensation Policy: Base Salary (seniority/role held) + Contributions (role complex and hardship based on place of work)

Annual leave: 2,5 days/month (working days)

Flight ticket: one return flight every 12 months of contract

Health insurance: covered

R&R Policy: 5 days every 8 weeks, allowance of 1.000€ is provided
