FMDV PRESENTATION & CONTEXT
FMDV is a global network of local and regional governments with the mission to develop and promote investment and financing solutions for urban development. Both a network of expertise and an incubator for operational strategies, FMDV supports its partners in three operational areas at all levels of intervention (international, regional, national, and local):Â
- Supporting strategies and operational solutions for financing urban development: FMDV supports ministries, local governments and their associations, international organizations and financing institutions, through support and advisory missions, in the design and deployment of strategies and institutional mechanisms for financing urban development.
- Organizing the convergence of stakeholders to accelerate action: FMDV is working to build a common vision of financing carried by various stakeholders – public, private, and institutional. FMDV contributes to international multi-stakeholder platforms on climate finance, organizes multi-stakeholder dialogues at the national level, and connects cities with investors (matchmaking sessions).
- Leading advocacy for action, producing and sharing knowledge: FMDV contributes to the political and institutional debate on localizing finance through advocacy actions (including at the United Nations), the publication of reference books, case studies, and the organization of training courses and study trips.
FMDV has mobilized more than 1,500 local governments from 110 countries and the majority of donors around these issues, and has helped to mobilize more than EUR 1,3 billion over the last 5 years.
