Humanity & Inclusion´s Operations Direction (OD) is composed of five geographical directions, four technical directions, one emergency direction and one transversal direction.


With the objective of ensuring an efficient response to emergencies and humanitarian crises, HI has put in place an Emergency Response team, constituted by one Manager of the Emergency Response Team, one Field Coordinator, one Administrative and Financial Coordinator, one Logistics Coordinator and three Operation Coordinators: one specialised in the Physical and Functional Rehabilitation, other specialised in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support and the other one specialized on the coverage of the Basic Needs of the population (Food Security and Emergency Livelihoods; Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and Shelter)


HI is currently recruiting a Field Coordinator for the Emergency Response Team, who will contribute to the successful implementation of HI´s emergency responses within a humanitarian, dynamic and motivated team.




Under the responsibility of the Manager of the Emergency Response Team and in collaboration with the technical advisors in headquarters, you are in charge of coordinating and implementing the needs assessments of the population affected by the crises and of developing and implementing emergency operations pertinent and appropriate to the needs of those populations. You strongly contribute to the strengthening of the organization´s capacity of responding to emergencies, through capitalization, technical development and training.


Your main responsibilities are:


  • You participate of the initial diagnosis and up to the launching and/or scale-up of the emergency operations (including the opening of new missions) following a humanitarian crisis, from the development of the methodology of the evaluation and up to the coordination and management of the evaluation teams, the development of the emergency intervention strategy, the coordination of proposal development and the effective launching of the emergency operations;
  • You ensure the implementation and coordination and management of the emergency response in line with Humanity & Inclusion’s and its donor´s rules and standards, through the follow-up of the context, the humanitarian needs and the security, the management of the team under your responsibility (operations and support); the development and implementation of the emergency operations strategy; and the reporting, and the monitoring transparency and quality of the intervention.
  • You represent and promote Humanity & Inclusion´s mandate and principles in the framework of the response to humanitarian crises, through a sound external communication and the relationship and coordination with local authorities, donors and humanitarian actors in the area of intervention;
  • You strongly contribute to the development of Humanity and Inclusion´s capacity to respond to humanitarian crises, by systematizing experiences and capitalizing lessons learnt, by contributing to the technical development associated to the emergency responses and the capacity building of the teams in headquarters and in the field.


Les members of the emergency response team are required to work:

  • In the field, in the framework of the launching of emergency responses;
  • In the field, in support to existent emergency interventions;
  • In headquarters, in between deployments, in the formalisation and capitalisation, in technical development, in the creation/revision of tools and in support to the technical advisors, support services and operations.


> Total mobility required, on the base of legal provisions and HI´s specific frameworks.

> Stress situations inherent to emergency contexts.

Expériences / Formation du candidat
  • You hold a Bac + 5 (Economics, Sociology, Political Sciences, or similar);
  • You hold a complementary training in development and management of humanitarian projects / operations, or equivalent, preferably in the field of international humanitarian action;
  • You have at least three years of experience in the humanitarian emergency assistance within a NGO, and at least two years of experience in the position of Field Coordination, Humanitarian or Emergency Coordinator, or equivalent;
  • You demonstrate a strong analysis and synthesis capacity, being able of quickly understanding and adapting to evolving humanitarian crisis contexts;
  • You show a strong capacity of communication, coordination and organization;
  • You hold a proven experience in team management and representation;
  • You are capable of managing a high and exigent workload under pressure, of managing your own stress and to support the staff under your responsibility in situations of crisis and stress;
  • You are reactive and flexible in every circumstance;
  • You show a good capacity of training and developing staff´s capacities;
  • You demonstrate strong leadership, being able of questioning yourself and improving your own performance;
  • You have a strong capacity of systematization, capitalization, conceptualization and development of methodologies, tools and procedures.

Salaire / Indemnité



  • Type of contract : Open-ended contract based in Lyon from December 2018, with the following conditions specific to the roving status:
    • Salary from 2 700 gross Euro per month based on the experience;
    • Flexibility (availability) allowance of 620 gross Euro per month;
    • Perdiem proportionally to the time spent in the field;
    • Hardship allowance of 620 gross Euro proportionally to the time spent in the field;
    • Collective housing in charge of HI during field deployments;
    • Medical evaluation insurance: International SOS;
    • 25 days of paid annual leave plus 22,5 days of annual RTT (work time reduction) and three days or rest and recuperation after each deployment to the field.
