Context :

The Education in Emergencies/Child Protection in Emergencies Advisor will provide technical support and coach country teams and HQ colleagues in designing and implementing quality education and child protection projects.

He/she will have to contribute to design programs, realize educational curriculum, develop and maintain policies, guidelines and tools based on international standards in EiE and CPiE.

Tdh education priorities include: formal and non-formal education; inclusive education; accelerated learning for children and youth from conflict settings that need support being reintegrated or rehabilitated; education integrated with MHPSS, CPiE, WASH, MNCH, FSL.



Responsabilities :

  • Focal point for minimum two countries of intervention of the humanitarian aid division;
  • Focal point for projects in education in emergencies and thematics such as children associated with armed forces and armed groups & prevention of violent extremism;
  • Role of advisor on all education activities within the humanitarian aid division;
  • Participation in the strategy of institutionalizing Child Protection Minimum Standards;
  • Development of an M&E system for EiE;
  • Collaboration with the other thematic experts within the humanitarian aid division as part of the multisectorial projects deployed on the field;
  • Collaboration with the Bioforce Institute for the training in Child Protection in emergencies;
  • Capacity building in collaboration with academic partners (CAS VAud, HESAV, NOHA, etc.);
  • Coordination with different partners such as INEE for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action.




  • Master degree in Education, Educational sciences, social sciences, psychology and/or any other relevant field and five year relevant work experience in the non-profit sector.
  • Experience of at least 2 years on implementation of MNCH projects, preferably in low income countries.
  • Proven technical knowledge and skills in the field of Child Protection and/or Education, with a specific focus on Child Protection in Emergencies, and/or Education in emergencies.
  • At least 5 years previous experience of seniority in an NGO at a management position in the field (expatriation) and 2 years in similar position HQ based.
  • Extensive project management experience (management; planning; staff development and training skills) in emergency.
  • Experience on writing policies, guidelines, monitoring and evaluation tools.
  • Solid skills in drafting applications for funding and reporting to donors.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in French and English.
  • Willingness to travel 30 – 40% of the time, often to insecure places (depending on security).
