Head of Project – Extended leadership functions (m/f)

Description

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until June 30, 2020. There are good prospects for an extension. The place of work will be Pyongyang, Democratic People’s Republic. Taking the security situation into account, travel for work will be required.

As Head of Project you will be responsible for the management and implementation of programmes and projects in accordance with Welthungerhilfe standards and in compliance with the specified content, time and financial framework conditions. You will manage the operational implementation of the project(s) and ensure the proper use of funds in the interest of the organisation as well as a timely reporting to the Regional Office. According to your personal development you will take over leadership tasks of the current Country Directorate.

Your responsibilities

  • Implementation and execution of the project(s) according to the co-financing contract and Welthungerhilfe standards
  • Adaptation and development of project planning including project budgets
  • Acquisition of management tasks
  • Responsibility for regular cash controls and financial reports
  • Ensuring personnel safety of seconded and national employees through realization of the safety concepts
  • Preparation of annual country programme reports
  • Responsibility for project procurement in accordance with the approved procurement plan and in compliance with internal and external procurement guidelines
  • Representation of Welthungerhilfe in local and international meetings

Your profile

  • A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant field
  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in international development cooperation and in advanced agricultural work (preferably in the fields of climate adaptation, greenhouse facilities, animal husbandry, food storage and processing systems)
  • Extensive proven management experience
  • Excellent coordination and organizational skills
  • Ability to cooperate and work in a team
  • Willingness to travel in areas with volatile local conditions
  • Good command of spoken and written English and German
